Textile Design

What will I learn?

At Sir James Smiths we have now introduced Textile Design and we are now incorporating the subject from year 7 through to GCSE Level.

We have redeveloped the textile design studio and now have a full suite that includes 16 sewing machines, Over Locker and costume models. Students are encouraged to be creative while developing the necessary skills to be develop their ideas into final well made products.

  • Craft industries


What course is it?

AQA Design and Technology: Textiles Technology (4570)

GCSE Design and Technology: Textiles Technology helps students develop their creativity.

This two-unit specification requires students to develop their ability to make textile products, a vital feature of candidates' experience of taking this specification.

This course has 60 per cent controlled assessment as a reflection of the importance of practical work within the subject.

If you are interested in any aspect of the fashion and textiles industry then this is the course for you.
